Beach Tents Banned In Beach Haven

On April 10, 2023 Beach Haven made a decision to ban tents and gazebos on the town’s beaches. The purpose of this new ordinance is to encourage more space and better views for all beachgoers. This decision came as a result of the island’s shrinking beaches and the fact replenishment cannot be implemented before the summer season. There were countless complaints over the past few years regarding people setting up large tents as close to the water as possible, blocking ocean views and taking up the best “real estate” on the sand. The new rules will also further prevent injury from large, fly-away umbrellas or tents. The ordinance still allows for sun-shades (certain size), beach umbrellas, and “baby tents” for infants or toddlers. Click the link below to read the article in The Sandpaper and learn the specific requirements to set up a sun-shade and “baby tent”.
